Using Geo Stationary (GEO) satellites enables HMD OffGrid to provide stable satellite coverage within our coverage areas.
We can connect to a number of satellite constellations including Inmarsat, Echostar and others.
It takes approx. 500 milli seconds to bounce a message to the satellites and back to the ground station. Any message is then translated into the IP network ensuring that overall latency is ~10 seconds compared to ~15-120 seconds for LEO services
GEO satellites are positioned above the equator and effectively orbiting the earth at the same speed as the earth rotates, creating a more stable connectivity experience.
